Dam's Sire: *B Sanstorms Millionaire
Dam's Dam: GCH Kara Kahl Rocket's Acclaim 4*M

A true matriarch, Arilla has stamped her influence on our herd with a group of beautiful daughters, granddaughters, and herd sires.  Three of her daughters are finished champions and she has sons both in our herd and across the Midwest.  Due to a teat infection that she contracted at the peak of her show career, she only earned two legs toward her championship, but she has always excelled in general appearance and had a very strongly supported mammary system.  Arilla did not get bred last year but we will try again this year, even though she is now 12 years old.

We left Aware home most of the show season, deciding instead to let her daughters Aanyx and Ajuja do most of the work in the show ring. But, Aware still looks great, and was BOB at the MN State Fair for the 3rd time, and placed 2nd in Champion Challenge to the Reserve National Champion at the Iowa State Fair. We have AI'd Aware once again this fall to Qu'Appelle V Ember to hopefully replicate her milking yearling daughters from this year. First and second bucks are reserved.

                         Kara Kahl Xanto Arusha

                                                 1-04 VG 86 (VEVV) 2009
                                                 3-04 EX 90  (E+EE) 2011

Sire:  *B Vance's Tishona's Xanto
Sire's Sire: *B Redwoods Hills Stone Amnesty
     Sire's Dam:
GCH Vance's WRCR Tishona
(7th Place 2 year old, 2006 National Show)
Dam: Kara Kahl Loyal Arilla 6-05 92 (VEEE) 2005 (see above)

Arusha is just a balanced doe all the way around with one of the best attached udders and feet and legs in the barn. She was also our top scoring Alpine on appraisal day when it came to breed character, getting a "1" in head. She was dry as a 2-year old, and so is still playing catch up a bit in the production department, but earned her first milking leg under judge Daniel Considine, was the 2nd place 3-year old at the MN State Fair and the 3rd place 3-year old at the Iowa State Fair. She also went Reserve champion twice is strong Alpine competition over the summer. Arusha will be bred to Free Admission this fall.

                                  Kara Kahl Saga Ajuja

Pleasant-Grove Super Saga  X  CH Kara Kahl Sauvignon Aware

                                                            2-04 VG 87 (VV+E) 2011

Ajuja is the kind of doe that we think we will just get better and better as she matures. She ended the show season on a very high note, winning Grand Champion and BDIS at the Bluff Country Show under judge Megan Okeson. Ajuja also earned her milking star this year, and is one of our top producers. She and Aware's Ember daughter, Aanyx, also won the Alpine Produce-of-Dam class at both the Iowa and MN State Fairs. We have AI'd Ajuja to ++*B Willow Run GB Juan Carlos this fall. The first buck is reserved.

                        Kara-Kahl Arc Sicily

Kara-Kahl Arcade Fire X Kara Kahl Sorghum Sincere

                                                1-04 VG 86 (+V+V) 2010
                                                2-06 VG 87 (VEVV) 2011

Sicily is tightly linebred on Arilla. Her dam, Sincere, was the 1st-place Junior Yearling at the 2008 National Show and Best Junior Doe in Show at the 2008 Minnesota State Fair.  She is tall, long, and extremely correct on her feet and legs. Sicily was the 15th place milking yearling at the 2010 National Show and the first place milking yearling at the 2010 Minnesota State Fair.  We think she holds a lot of promise for the future.  Sicily is bred to Aware's buck, Antonio, this fall.

                       Kara-Kahl Elijah So Rare

+*B Willow Run Landmark Elijah X Kara-Kahl Chirac So Fine

                                                  2-04 VG 88 (VEVV)  2011

After turning heads as a fancy kid and even fancier dry yearling, So Rare freshened with triplets as a first fresheners and has spent most of the year catching up to her herdmates, maturing, and deepening out. As the summer wore on, her udder became uneven, and so she stayed home from the later summer shows. Still, she was our highest appraising 2-year old, and we are very excited to see what another freshening brings. We are planning to AI So Rare to Kickapoo Valley Gold Challenge this fall.

                                 Kara-Kahl Ember Aanyx

                             +*B Qu'Appelle V Ember x
CH Kara-Kahl Sauvignon Aware

                                                        1-03 VG 87 (VEEE)  2011

Aanyx is a very stylish and upstanding yearling with a very well attached udder that is high in the rear and has well placed and aligned teats. Aanyx was 7 times 1st and 2 times RsCH this 2011 show season. She topped two very competitive yearling classes in 2011 at the Iowa State Fair and the Minnesota State Fair. She and her dam, Aware, also won the Dam and Daughter classes at both the Iowa and Minneosta State Fairs. Aanyx has been bred to one of our new junior herd sires, Kara-Kahl Syrup's Sweet Lips for March. Her first buck is reserved.

                                             Kara-Kahl Amen A&W

                                           Pleasant-Grove Act Menacing X Kara-Kahl Sorghum Awakening

                                                         1-4 VG 86 (+VAV) 2011

A & W has mostly been in the shadow of our fancy Ember daughter this summer, but we see a lot of potential in this young doe. Her shining moment of 2011 was her 3rd place win out of 16+ yearling milkers at the Iowa State Fair. A & W will likely be bred to our new junior herd sire, *B Redwood Hills Free Admission. First buck is reserved.

Alpine Reference Does

                           Kara-Kahl Replay Syrup

Kara-Kahl Mellow Syria x Sunshine Renna Replay

4-5 EX 91 (EEEV) 2011

Syrup is an extreme doe for dairyness being open-ribbed, lean and clean throughout with strong flat bone. She's deep-bodied and open, which matches her high production, and is tall, uphill to the withers and level over the topline. She is a doe that we sold as a kid, then re-acquired two years later as the buyer eventually decided to go out of Alpines. We sold Syrup this year but have kept her buck, Kara-Kahl Sweet Lips.

                                 Kara-Kahl Ember Absinthe

                                  +*B Qu'Appelle V Ember  X  Kara Kahl Loyal Arilla

Absinthe is very similar in type to her brother, Anchorman. She is extremely angular with a long bone pattern.  We were very pleased with Absinthe's 12th place showing at the 2010 National Show.  It was a large, competitive class, and although a bit on the small side, she looked very elegant and pretty. At the 2010 Minnesota State Fair, Absinthe placed 3rd with 1st place udder, right behind Sicily and Ajuja.  We sold Absinthe this year, but her full brother, Anchorman, will be used this fall in the Sunshine herd.
