Kara Kahl Akimoto-5/$225 (limited availabilty).  Akimoto is Akebono’s only collected son.  Akebono has proved to be a valuable brood doe (though a bit stingy with doe kids) on top of being National Champion, milking over 3000 lbs in 4 of her 6 lacations and appraising 94(EEEE).  She has 2 champion daughters, both of who placed in the top 5 at Nationals.  Three of her 4 daughters have milked over 3000 lbs in 305 days. She has two sons working in Mexico and another working in the Poplar Hill Dairy producing productive and correct daughters, one of which who was named Best Jr Doe in Show at the MN State Fair in 2022.  Two different sons, Akihito and Akimoto, had the 1st and 2nd place Jr. Gets of Sire at the 2022 Minnesota State Fair.  Akimoto’s first doe kids have not disappointed us.  They have all been extremely dairy, strong, and wide kids.  His first three daughters we freshened are all consistent in well attached mammary systems-especially long in the fore udder and high rear udders, milk very well and very strong and dairy in bone.  The Pleasant Grove herd leased Akimoto in the fall of 2022 and bred him to about 20 does, so we are excited to see what he produces in that herd on a larger scale than we can use him. Akimoto will be moving to a new home this summer only for the fact we can not use him on more than a couple does he isn’t closely related to and we will have 3 other bucks to use.  Semen is very limited in availability, but Patricia Spurgeon who is his new owner has collected him and has semen available.

Sire: Pleasant Grove RR Freeze Frame-2021 National Alpine Premier Sire
Dam: GCH Kara Kahl PGW Akebono 6-05 EX EEEE 94, 2021 National Champion and Best Udder

Kara Kahl Argento – 5/$175  -currently owned by the Hurricane-PM herd with a number of milking daughters.  When asked about his daughters- she said: “teat placement has been good. Fore udders long and smooth. Rear udders about the same as the dam in height but adds width and balance when viewed from the side. Teats are medium to large size. I would say 15 to 20 % have large teats. He is adding length of body and Long necks that blend very smoothly into their withers. Rear legs and pasterns are pretty much whatever their dams have. On a super super level rump they are slightly steeper but still pretty and not steep just not as level as moms. On a very steep rump he levels them out significantly. I bred him to some 45degree angled rumps and the daughters are much better. Some of his daughters are a little hockey as kids. Not horrible but some. As they grow they get better and as milkers you don’t even notice at all. Oh and they have lovely personalities. Not hateful or biters like some alpines. We love him “

Kara Kahl Atari 5/$150- Only threw bucks for me, except for two doe kids this year-all have been wide, correct, upstanding.  Extremely consistent dam line with Arugula as his dam, who was the dam of the 2021 national champion, multiple daughters who were champions and/or appraised EX, 5 daughters with Excellent mammary systems. Sire is Roeburn’s KVLW Samaurai-also extrememy consistent dam and sire lines.  See write up under Alpine Herd sires for more information/pictures
