Alpine Herd Sires
Kara-Kahl Ajax (DOB - 4/17/2010)
Sire: Pleasant Grove Act
Menacing Dam: Kara-Kahl Saga Ajuja
1-03 85 (+VAV)
Ajax's pedigree focuses on two Pleasant-Grove sires from outstandng dams, both of whch appraised Excellent with E's across the board in every category. We especially like his strong feet and legs. While Ajax's dam, Ajuja, is one of our younger does, we see a bright future for her. In her last show at the Olmsted County Fair, she won the 2-year old class, beating her herdmates, Sicily and So Rare. We are excited about Ajax's crop of kids this year, who show a lot of correctness in their feet and legs. We are also retaining an Ajax sone out of one of our most dairy and productive does, Syrup, as one of our junior herd sires.
*B Redwood Hills Free Admission (American)
Yes, that's right...we've added an American buck to our herd. We last had American Alpines in the early 1980's, so this was quite a step for us. The opportunity to obtain this buck from Redwood Hills arose unexpectedly, and so we decided to take the plunge. However, in choosing a junior herd sire, we decided that we wanted to pick a line that included some purebred genetics as well, and so the fact that Admission's dam is a Ransom daughter appealed to us. We were also attracted by Alliyah's tremendous milk records and consistency as a brood doe. On top of that, Anna had the opportunity to judge Free Admission's full genetic sister, SGCH Redwood Hills Lance Bella Donna (EX-92 EEEE) several years ago and was impressed with her strong general appearance, extreme length of body, and overall balance. Bella Donna was the 3rd place 3-year old at the 2009 National Show and the 6th place 4-year old at the 2010 National Show. To say that Freelances's consistency as a sire is well-esatalished is an understatement. We are thrilled to have this buck and are excited to see what he will add to our breeding program. We are currently planning to breed him to Arusha and her daughter Ajujubee this fall.
Kara-Kahl Antonio Sire: ++*B Willow Run GB Juan Carlos 2-04 90 (VEE)
Kara Kahl Syrup's Sweet Lips
Sire: * B Kara-Kahl Ajax
Sweet Lips was one of our most handsome 2011 buck kids, and we've found a lot to appreciate in his dam, Syrup. She is an extremely dairy and hard-working individual and looked awesome at the 2011 Minnesota State Fair where she won the very competitive 4-year old class. Our admiration of Syrup was validated when she appraised Ex 91 (EEEV) earlier in 2011. Sweet Lips has been an eye-catching young buck since the day he was born and we hope to see Syrup's strong yet dairy frame, size, scale, and heavy production transmitted through him. We are breeding some of the most promising does to him this fall, including our fancy milking yearling Aanyx, a Qu'appelle V Ember daughter.

Fair Reference Sires: ++*B Willow Run GB Juan Carlos 2-04 90 (VEE) Sire: SG ++*B Sweet Dreams Golden Boy 3-03 89 (E+E) Dam: GCH Willow Run Apache Josephina 3*M 7-02 92 (EEEE) We decided to incorporate Juan Carlos into our breeding program after seeing a number of daughters and close relatives this past year. His dam Josephina was the 1st place 4-year old at the 2004 National Show and his maternal sister Jasmine was the 1st place milking yearling at the 2006 national Show and the 3rd place 5-6-year old at the 2010 National Show. A Juan Carlos daughter, GCH Willow Run JC Rio, owned by Jonathan Bland of Pearl Valley, easily finished her championship this past year as a 5-year old. Other notable offspring reside in the Sunshine, Ladies Choice, and Iron Rod herds. Juan Carlos generally sires offspring that excel in length of body, levelness, and dairyness. In 2011,
Both Aware and Ajuja gave us single
buck kids by Juan Carlos, so we've decided to repeat the breeding to Ajuja this
fall in the hopes of getting at least one doe kid.
SG ++*B Sweet Dreams Golden Boy 3-04 89 E+E Sire: SG++*B Chateau De Ville's Gyrfalcon Dam: Chateau's Wild Thing 7-03 86 EVV+ Golden Boy has sired many champion offspring over the years. He is closely linebred on the highly influential GCH Wa-Shaw-Me Snowbird and was used most extensively by the Sunshine herd. Other notable daughters include CH Iron-Rod Golden Style, who appraised 91 EEEE and Hoach's Golden Longing, who appraised 89 VVVE.

*B
Sunshine Burta Burgeon Sire:
A/V Glacier View Jawbreaker Dam:
SGCH Sunshine Justice Burta (2005 Reserve National Champion; 6-08 92 EEEE) Dam's Sire: ++*B Sunshine Judyl Justice
Burgeon's
Dam: SGCH Sunshine Justice Burta We are very excited about acquiring this outstanding purebred buck from Daniel
Considine. Burgeon is extremely dairy, wide in the rear, sharp, and
correct. HIs dam, Burta, has borne some highly consistent sons in herds
across the country and was an exceptional representative of the breed for both
type and production. After our success with Walnut this year, and in thinking
about our ongoing efforts to improve dairyness and milk production, we decided
that a Sunshine buck would help us with those goals. And, we were thrilled to
get a Burta son that also incorporates the genetics of one of the nicest Dandie
daughters ever -- SGCH Sunshine Dandie Zashti. Burgeon is seeing a lot of use
this fall, however we are particularly excited about his breeding to our Dandie
daughter Rhue. That cross represents some intriguing linebreeding, and we're
anxious to see the results!
+*B Marshland Regal J Starbuck
5-03 92 (VEE) 2005 - Purebred *deceased* Sire: GCH Dionysius Cici's Chivas Regal ++*B Dam: SGCH Marshland Star of Jasmine
2008 Starbuck First-Place Senior Get-of-Sire
Starbuck has played a major role in the development of our Toggenburg breeding program. He is the sire of Rhone, Rhumba,
Rhapsody, as well as other top performing Toggenburg does throughout Minnesota. He is beautifully-bodied and has passed his
size, correctness, and strength on to his offspring. In 2010 thus far, Starbuck has sired the 2nd place Senior-Get-of-Sire (to Little*Creek
LCTT Tristin) which included Rhapsody, the 3rd place/3rd Udder 2-year old, Rhumba, the 3rd place 5-6 Year Old, and
Knotneer MRS You Say Tomato who is ranked #1 on the 2010 Top Ten list for milk and protein (the 3rd year in a row a Starbuck daughter
has held this honor!). Starbuck also sired the 2010 Toggenburg Premier Sire at Nationals, Legendairy Rhumba's Rhett owned by Redbird
Acres. He has also sired the first senior get of sire at the Minnesota State Fair for the third consecutive year, in 2010, 2009, and 2008
and was also the premier Toggenburg sire at that same show in 2006 and 2008.
Starbuck will be with us
for years to come. His semen is available through Biogenics, Ltd. or from
the farm.
Sire: +*B SG Cherry Glen SHCD Annes Arizona
Diamondback definitely left us too soon, but we are glad that we have him
collected. His 2010 daughters Rio and Wailea show desired improvements in
dairy character and udder capacity. We are anxious to watch them mature.
