Whimper is one of our favorite does in the Pleasant Grove herd. Not only is she a beautiful doe, but she also has tremendous size, dairy strength, and presence.  Wingding himself is tall and upstanding with excellent length of bone, dairy character, and style.  He is also a paternal brother to our own Pleasant-Grove Zen Xercise who is a promising 2-year old.  Xercise was Reserve Senior Champion at the 2013 MN State Fair and the third place milking yearling at the 2012 National Show.

Longitude's Dam:  CH Pleasant-Grove SSO Length, 2011 Reserve National Champion

We greatly admired Length for her strong, long, and correct frame, and her beautiful mammary system.  We see a lot of potential in our Amen daughter, A & W, and see the sire's side of Longitude's pedigree complementing our genetics well.

Longitude sired our 1st place Intermediate Kid at the 2013 National Show, Kara-Kahl PGL Almond.  He also sired the 1st place Junior Kid and 3rd place Senior Yearling!  We are very excited about the promise these young does exhibit and are excited about freshening them next spring!

We bought 5 more straws of Saga this year after watching our Saga daughter, Ajuja, mature into a lovely, competitive doe. We were pleased that she could be a part of the 1st place Senior Get, a win that truly demonstrates the lasting influence this buck has had on the Alpine breed.  Saga is increasingly in the background of many of our Alpine pedigrees.

Right:  Star Trekker's Maternal Sister, SGCH Marshland PH Mystery Star - 7-03 90 (VEEE)

We are thrilled to have this young buck.  His dam Starburst was an outstanding animal.  Anna had the good fortune of judging her at the advanced age of 9, and she was the very definition of longetivty, showing incredible correctness and productivity.  In addition, she has 3 daughters that have earned their championships and/or SG designations.  The sire's side is icing on the cake.  Rhoyal (and his twin brother Rhubric) have already sired some very fancy dry stock, including the first place senior yearling at the 2013 National Show!  That senior yearling also happens to be a full sister to Star Trekker.  We see Trekker's pedigree complimenting our own genetics in multiple ways, and he's very correct in his own right.

Amethyst in 2011, Dam of Chippewa                Pearl in 2011, Granddam of Chippewa

We have long admired the KBARC herd in North Carolina and when the opportunity arose to add this young buck to our breeding program, we were thrilled. "Chip" is extremely dairy and wide in the rear with very correct feet and legs.  With a pedigree stacked with consistency that harks back to Dairy Delight foundation stock, and that also includes the 2011 Reserve National Champion, we are looking forward to seeing how he will cross on our herd.  Chip's dam, Amethyst is maturing nicely and was named Senior Champion at the 2012 North Carolina State Fair.

Update:  We retained 2 Chip daughters in 2013 and they are both striking, correct does.  Chip has seen a lot of use this fall, and we are excited to freshen a new crop of kids by him this spring.

*Neshaminy Oaks Paisley's Picard (Purebred)

Sire:  Neshaminy Oaks LB Herve

Sire's Sire:  Neshaminy Oaks LL Leaderboard
Sire's Dam:  SGCH Neshaminy Acres KD Havarti - 5-02 EX 91 (VEEE)

Dam's Sire:  ++*B SG B&R-B/C Jem Dandie
Dam's Dam:  GCH Neshaminy Acres LDN Pistacchio - 5-01 EX 91 (EEEE)

Link to Picard's Full Pedigree

Picard's dam is a doe in the Neshaminy Oaks herd that we have long admired for her extreme dairyness, size and scale, and productivity.  We obtained Picard last fall, but held back on using him because we felt he needed a little extra time to grow.  Well, grow he did!  He has really matured this summer and we are very impressed with his size and scale, legginess, and beautiful topline and rump.  He is a beautiful buck, and we look forward to using him on some of our best does this fall.

*Unfortunately, Picard has not settled any does this fall.  As a result, Chip is seeing quite a bit more use than we anticipated.

Burgeon Daughters:  Left, Legendairy SBB Rhue-lette, 5th Place Milking Yearling, 2013 National Show
Right:  Legendairy SBB Rhoma, 3rd Place Milking Yearling, 2013 National Show

Burgeon is extremely dairy, wide in the rear, sharp, and correct. HIs dam, Burta, has borne some highly consistent sons in herds across the country and was an exceptional representative of the breed for both type and production. After our success with Walnut, and in thinking about our ongoing efforts to improve dairyness and milk production, we decided that a Sunshine buck would help us with those goals. And, we were thrilled to get a Burta son that also incorporates the genetics of one of the
nicest Dandie daughters ever -- SGCH Sunshine Dandie Zashti.

Burgeon is back at Sunshine Farms for the 2013 breeding season but may return in the future.  We are happy to report that he sired the 3rd and 5th Place Milking Yearlings at the 2013 National Show!  His semen is available from us or through Biogenics.

The Nimrodel herd was one of the most influential of the 1990s, and has heavily influenced our herd through the spotlight sale buck Anna purchased in 1991, +*B Nimrodel Opera's Chivas Osage.  Yurok was at one time owned by Paula Walker of Walker Farm Toggenburgs where he sired highly productive does with fancy mammary systems.  In analyzing Yurok's offspring, it seems that over the years, he's been an especially strong cross on Nimrodel Sausalito daughters, hence our decision to AI our Sausalito daughter Rhomance to him this fall.  We hope she settles, but if not, we have 3 more straws in the tank and
won't rule out using him in the future.
