Awarrior combines the smoothness of blending and correctness of Aware with our extremely dairy "S" line.  He was leased out to the Mellow Meadows herd last fall, and sired the first place intermediate kid this year at the Wisconsin State Fair.  We are anxious to see offspring of our own.

This young buck is very correct in the front end and very strong on his feet and legs.  We will be using him on a few select does this fall.

IR-Ranch NCS Sylvester

Sire: *B GCH Hill N HOller M. Nucleus  4-07  89  (VEE)

We are leasing Sylvester this fall from Marge Brutscher of Gahama Goats. Sylvester has a classic Alpine look and his pedigree is filled with interesting old bloodlines from the Hill N Holler herd and the Sanstorm herd. His dam's line in the IR-Ranch herd is particularly strong in the mammary system with high, wide rear udders and a lot of capacity. We are very anxious to see how he will cross with our herd.

Planned A.I. Alpine Sires for 2008

*B Pleasant-Grove Super Saga  5-04 90 (VEE)

Sire: Pleasant Grove Liason Superior

   Sire's Sire: Hoach's Lyric Liason

Sire's Dam: Pleasant Grove KVCG Savvy

Dam: SGCH Stardust Cordite Saba 8-03 93 (EEEE)

Dam's Sire: SG *B Sunshine Coric Cordite

   Dam's Dam: Stardust Schwarzees Slawa

Saga's Dam:  SGCH Stardust Cordite Saba owned by Craig Koopman

Super Saga was the Premier Alpine Sire at both the 2007 & 2008 National Shows.  He has sired some lovely animals in the Kickapoo Valley herd. Saga's daughters excel in the height of rear udder, smoothness of fore udder, correctness of feet and legs. and dairyness.  Aware and Auburn to Saga for mid-March freshenings.

++B Missdee's Nilan 4-00 90 (EEV)

Sire: Goodwoods Jackson

   Sire's Sire: Missdee's Magneto

Sire's Dam:  GCH Goodwood's Ranchman Jamieson

Dam: GCH Missdee's Nadiya (1995 ADGA National Champion)

   Dam's Sire: Missdee's RM Magnate

Dam's Dam: GCH Missdee's Nell (1991 Reserve National Champion & Best Udder)

Nilan's dam was one of our favorite does owned by Gene and Charlotte Dershewitz of the Missdee's herd out in the Pacific Northwest.  We loved the style of the Missdee's Alpines, particularly their beautiful front ends and well supported, capacious mammary systems.  Our "S" line descends from a colorama doe purchased from the Missdee's herd in the mid-1990s, and we thought we'd like to bring a bit of their genetics back into the herd.  We AI'd Amelie to Nilan recently this fall, so we are waiting to see if the breeding was successful.

+*B Willow-Run Caesar

Sire:  ++*B Kara Kahl Awesome

   Sire's Sire: ++*B Qu'Appelle Joi Acclaim

Sire's Dam:  Kara Kahl Bruiser's Apropos

Dam: GCH Maple Glen PM's Carrie 6*M (1994 ADGA National Show Best Udder)

   Dam's Sire: Abundance Cuatro PM

   Dam's Dam: Maple Glen Emma

We are chiefly interested in Caesar because of his close connection to one of our most influential bucks, Awesome, who was sold to Barbara Swayne of the Maple Glen herd in the early 1990s.  The Maple Glen herd would later prove to be one of the foundation herds for Willow Run Alpines.  Caesar himself went on to sire such notable offspring as GCH Willow Run Caesar Raisa, the 2001 ADGA Reserve National Champion and GCH Willow Run Caesar Revenge, Reserve Best Udder at the 2006 ADGA Nationals.  We plan to AI Aveda to Caesar.

Kara Kahl Sorghum (full brother to Kara Kahl Mellow Sorbonne)

Sorghum is the sire of Amelie, Sincere and Awakening.  All three does are very strong in the front end and extremely dairy.

2008 Starbuck First Place Senior Get-of-Sire

(L. to R. Rhumba, Knotneer MRS You Say Tomato (owned by Anna Severson) & Rhone

Starbuck has played a major role in the development of our Toggenburg breeding program and at 8 years of age, he is still going strong. He is the sire of Rhone and Rhumba, as well as other top performing Toggenburg does throughout Minnesota. He is beautifully-bodied and has passed his size, correctness, and strength on to his offspring. In 2006 and 2008 he was Premier Toggenburg sire at the Minnesota State Fair and had the first place Senior Get-of-Sire. He also sired the first placed Aged Doe at the 2006 Minnesota State Fair and the 2008 Toggenburg Breed Leader, Ru-Ridge Starbuck Trinity.

We look forward to the freshening of three new Starbuck daughters this spring.

Starbuck was collected in both October of 2006 and November of 2007. His semen is marketed and sold through Biogenics Ltd.

*B Sunshine Alehs Alioth    2-09 87 (VEV) 2007

Sire: *B Moss Ridge Carbine Maxcell 1-07 89 (EVV)

Sire's Sire: ++B Sunshine Carmen Carbine

Sire's Dam:  GCH Moss Ridge Jag's Maura 6-05 92 (EEEE)

Dam: SG Sunshine Laramie Alehs 4-03 89 (VEEE)

Dam's Sire:  *B Sunshine Laru Laramie

Dam's Dam:  Sunshine Nominate Alehr 4-06 87 (VEVV)

Whipoorwhil (Wave's last daughter from 2006) and Walnut are both sired by Alioth. Although Whipoorwhil was sold earlier this spring, she had a nicely shaped and well supported mammary system.  Walnut is quite correct on her feet and legs and angular throughout.  Alioth himself is quite striking, exhibiting a lot of dairiness and angularity throughout.  His line in the Sunshine herd is quite refined, dairy and feminine.  Alioth will be used heavily this fall.

*B Neshaminy Acres KRN Bellringer   2-04 91 (EEE) 2007

Sire:  Neshaminy Acres Ranger Kameron

     Sire's Sire:  Rowe's Maestro Ranger

Sire's Dam:  Neshaminy Acres Patron Katie

Dam:  GCH Neshaminy Acres KS Libertybell - EX 91

Dam's Sire:  Neshaminy Acres PRN Kristopher

Dam's Dam:  Neshaminy Acres Patron Bell

Bellringer is quite correct, particularly on his feet and legs, and exhibits a lot of width throughout. We first noticed Bellringer's dam Libertybell at the 2006 Minnesota State Fair, where she was the first place 4-year old and Reserve Grand Champion to Rhone.   She has since finished her championship and was named Best Senior Doe in Show at the very competitive Iowa State Fair in 2007 and was the third place 5-year old at the 2008 ADGA National Show.  Rhiesling and another daughter Rhubarb (later sold) are the first two milking daughters from this herd.  Both are quite dairy, exhibit a lot of mammary capacity and have beautiful heads.

Legendairy Rhone's Rioja

Sire:  *B Neshaminy Acres KRN Bellringer (see above)

Dam:  CH Legendairy Starbuck Rhone

     Dam's Sire:  +*B Marshland Regal/J Starbuck

Dam's Dam:  CH Legendairy Worthy Rhondelet

Rioja is a full brother to Rhiesling, who was the 5th place milking yearling at the 2008 National Show. He is strong, correct, dairy and possesses width throughout. We have bred him to the majority of our young stock, as well as to Promise and Wallflower. The cross with Wallflower is especially intriguing because of the close line-breeding on Rhondelet and Wave. We have a lot of confidence in this young buck, but because he is closely related to a good portion of the herd, he is for sale. If he is not sold, he will be available for lease in the fall of 2009.

Planned AI Sires:

B&R-B/C Jem Dandie 4-05 90 (VEE)

Sire:  B&R B/C John Travolta

Sire's Sire:  GCH Dionysius Cici's Chivas Regal ++*B
     Sire's Dam:
 CH Oremus Just Fine

Dam: GCH Oremus Jem

Dam's Sire:  *B Oremus Julian
     Dam's Dam:
 GCH Oremus Jaimie

The Oremus Toggenburgs were well established as one of top Toggenburg herds in the upper Midwest.  Dandie is linebred on two bucks that have historically worked well in my herd -- Chivas Regal and ++*B GCH Mount Douglas Key Principle.  Dandie's daughters include Sunshine Dandie Aweir (2-07 91 EEEE) who was the 2nd place 2-year old at the 2003 National Show and GCH Sunshine Dandie Zashti, the fourth place 3-year old at 2004 National Show.  Dandie also sired the 2nd placed Aged Doe -- Sunshine Dandie Traem II at the 2008 National Show.  His daughters tend to be sharp, dairy and angular.  Rhone has been AI'd to Dandie for a mid-March freshening.

Reference Sires:

*B Dairy-Delight Classic Whiplash

Sire:  *B Dairy Delight DDKC Classic

Sire's Sire: Dairy Delight DSK Chance

Sire's Dam: GCH Hoosier Acres Claire (1989 ADGA National Champion)

Dam: GCH Dairy Delight LSJ Whipple

     Dam's Sire: Laughing Stock Josh

Dam's Dam: GCH Hoosier Acres Whitney

Whiplash was used via AI on Wallflower in the fall of 2007 and she freshened with twin does that will freshen next spring.  He has sired some extremely dairy and productive does in the Noble Springs herd in Tennessee and is a maternal brother to GCH Dairy Delight Joker Whiplet, the first place 2-year old at the 1990 ADGA national Show, GCH Dairy Delight Pharoh Wripple - the 1993 Reserve National Champion, and Dairy Delight Pharoh Wrevenge, the sire of the 2007 ADGA National Champion. Years ago our "W" line began with a Whiplet daughter.
